Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the German by Example mobile app and related services (“the app”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. Who can use German by Example

You must be able to form a binding contract to use the app. It's intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account.

2. Your account

• Provide accurate information when you create a profile (email, name, level).
• You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account, which permanently removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or misuse the service.

3. Acceptable use

When using the app, you agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or attempt to disrupt the app or its API.
• Access the service by any automated means beyond normal app use, or circumvent rate limits or security.
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose or to infringe others' rights.

4. Learning content and intellectual property

The app's lessons, audio, text, design and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own language learning. You may not resell, redistribute or publicly display the content without permission.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

The app is free to start. If we offer paid features or subscriptions, they are billed through your Apple App Store account under Apple's terms; renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled per those terms and your App Store settings. Any pricing shown in the app applies at the time of purchase.

6. Service availability & changes

We work to keep the app available and improve it over time, but we may add, change or remove features, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

7. Disclaimers

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Language learning outcomes depend on your own effort and use; we don't guarantee any specific result or proficiency.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
